英国《防务新闻》2006年8月23日报道：ATK公司已收到美国空军实验室2200万美元的合同，用于开发复合材料自动化技术以提高重型复合材料运载火箭的性能，降低制造成本。位于犹他州Clearfield以及密西西比州Iuka的ATK公司将负责实施这项一次性运载火箭的自动化生产合同（LAPELS）。LAPELS计划内含有17项特殊倡议，包括低成本模具、纤维缠绕技术、综合化健康监控、热防护系统以及铺带等。
